About
Girl Gamers
Whether you be an RPG freak, a hardcore gamer or a Sims expert you are counted as a
girl gamer and should be proud of it! The number of female gamers is increasing rapidly and
like it or not the boys are going to have to move over :P I will try not to turn this into
a pep-rally/feministic debate. Basically if you're a girl gamer, be proud of it! Go sign
up, stick a button on your site, go buy a T-shirt with Girl Gamer stamped across it XD
Fanlistings
A fanlisting is a collection of fans of a certain subject, be it music, characters, TV
etc. They can sign up with their e-mail and URL. It is a way of keeping in contact with people
of the same interest as you and also showing your love for a certain subject
Me; just something I want to say, feel free to ignore
Personally I've been playing games for more or less my whole life on and off. My uncle
showed me Tomb Raider and Tekken when I was about five and I had a GameBoy colour when I was
a kid. I never really classed myself as a gamer until now though. And here comes the feminist
rant; I am - to put it lightly - annoyed about the way women are treated in the gameing industry.
Game companies seem to be unable to acknowledge that girl gamers exist (maybe because the companies
are male based). And yes, there are people trying to help get girls into gaming, Ubisoft's Frag Dolls
for example. But the attitude is still very much aimed at men (unrealistic and slutty women and
beefed up 'cool' guys. Though this tends to be a more western view of games). Bottom line is I
want it to change and well yeah this is only a fanlisting and fanlistings can't change the world,
but heck I can try :P
